This course is for students interested in the living world, especially how plants grow and animals survive. You will learn about the way plants and animals interact with each other and their surroundings. We will ask questions about how plants and animals adapt to survive. You will learn about animal habitats, their feeding interactions and predator-prey relationships.
The Science of kai will be studied; making bread, gingerbeer, cheese and yoghurt and testing food and investigating microbes. There will be a unit on harakeke weaving and whiri.
Classes will involve growing seeds and propagating plants. You will be using microscopes to understand cells and doing many science experiments to help you understand the living world around us. There will be an animal study project.
