Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Buchanan.
STAR Course
KEY POINTS:
- STAR is available on ALL lines
- Requires self- directed learning, and therefore not suited to everyone.
- You will need to be able to work in the Te Whare Awhina (LSC) environment.
- Not all subject/industry areas will have Level Two/Three units available.
- Students should know what they want to do when they leave school, before applying.
While choosing subjects for the year, students may have identified an area of interest that is not available to them in the traditional timetable, and therefore have opted into STAR.
You will be timetabled for four hours per week in which you may be expected to attend class in Te Whare Awhina and work through your workbook in the area of interest you have chosen.
You will need to fill out an application form to do STAR, and placement of students in STAR is not guaranteed. Throughout the year, failure to meet the requirements set out may lead to students being removed from STAR and placed back in mainstream classes.
If you are interested in STAR please see Mr Buchanan or Mrs Holland
Standards shown on courses are only an indication and not all may be offered at the time of study.
