STAR Course Level 2,3

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr J. BUCHANAN

STAR Course

Requires self- directed learning, and therefore not suited to everyone.

- You will need to be able to work in the Te Whare Awhina (LSC) environment.

- Not all subject/industry areas will have Level Two/Three units available.

- Students should know what they want to do.

While choosing subjects for the year, students may have identified an area of interest that is not available to them, and therefore have opted into STAR.

You will be timetabled for nearly four hours per week in which you may be expected to attend class in Te Whare Awhina and work through your workbook in the area of interest you have chosen.

The Placement of students in STAR is not guaranteed, and failure to meet the requirements set out may lead to students being removed from STAR and placed back in mainstream classes.

If you are interested in STAR please see Mr Buchanan or Mrs Holland

STAR allows students to follow career pathways ,which may not be catered for by mainstream classes. To be selected onto a STAR course you will need to see Mr Buchanan or Mrs Holland. STAR courses allow you to do work that fits in with your high interest subject area. - it could be farming, health, childcare to name a few. You may be expected to work in TWA when STAR appears on your timetable, and you will need to be self-motivated and disciplined, to ensure you get work completed.

Standards shown on courses are only an indication and not all may be offered at the time of study.
