Te Hau Rāwhiti is our Level 2 NCEA course. The main focus of the course is around confidently using skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. There are tasks for each area that you will complete over the year where you will demonstrate your ability to use grammatical structures and vocabulary.

Success in the Level 2 Te Reo Maori course can provide you with a step toward completing NCEA Level 2 and entry to NCEA Level 3 Te Reo Maori.  All students will have the opportunity of achieving an endorsement in Te Reo Māori provided the grades reach the required level.

Course Overview

Term 1
Term 1 learning will be based around whakawhanaungatanga and getting to know each other.
The foci for this term will be to complete a kōrero, whakarongo and a tuhinga task.

Term 2
Term 2 learning will be based around tōku ao torotoro
The foci for this term will be to complete a kōrero, whakarongo and a tuhinga task.

Term 3
Term 3 learning will continue to be about toku ao torotoro
The foci for this term will be to prepare for external exams as well as pānui and tuhinga tasks

Term 4
Term 4 is all about revision and preparation for external exams.
This is also the opportunity to complete any outstanding tasks.

Recommended Prior Learning

Tuakana including at least one external assessment.

Te Hau Rāwhiti builds on the Te Hauāuru program. Students need to be reading, writing, listening and speaking at Level 5 of Te Aho Arataki I Te Marau (TAAM) or proficient in Te Reo Māori.

Students who have completed Te Hauāuru Level 1 Te Reo Māori program are encouraged to enrol in this course.
