Teacher in Charge: Mrs C. Newson
Community and Society
In this course we will explore a variety of topics relating to measurement and geometry within the context of being outside and being active. Topics could include evaluating shelters, map reading, planning a tramp, and obstacle course design. This course will appeal to students who are interested in the outdoors and survival. It’s not an Outdoor Ed class though, it’s a Mathematics course that uses well-known situations, as well as the extraordinary, relating to the outdoors. Think Bear Grylls vs Maths, or Survivor Maths Island, or the Amazing Maths Race. This is a Mathematics course with a focus on Measurement and Geometry.
