Teacher in Charge: Mrs K. PETERS
In this English course, you will explore the idea of identity - who you are, and why you are that way. You will learn how your identity is based on shared ‘identity stories’ that have been around for hundreds or thousands of years. You will learn some universal stories that we all believe in without even realising it - and learn how they make us who we are. These include 'the circle of life', the story of money, and right vs wrong. You will reflect on how these stories actually influence what you think and believe - your values. Finally, we will look at the relationship between identity stories and how they affect our happiness. You will apply this to images and writing about your own identity, to figure out who you actually are! You may also apply this through being challenged with reading more complex texts as an extension of your learning.
