Social Sciences - A Better Earth; Human Rights and Environmental Studies - B

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr D. HUTCHINSON

This is a combination of two units, which look at the needs of people and the planet we live on.

Human Rights

Some people have easy lives, but feel unlucky. Some people have very hard lives, but feel lucky.

In this course you will be encouraged to look at some of the benefits that we have in our lives, and then compare that with others who deal with enormous challenges. What human rights should all people have, and do we live in a world where everyone is lucky enough to be looked after by people around them?

You will be encouraged to do something to help make someone else's life better during this course.

Environmental Studies

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead.

In this unit you will investigate how to keep the Earth and its life healthy for future generations. You will be challenged to be a leader with the ability to educate others. You will also be expected to do a practical project that benefits the environment.
