Science of food
Teacher in Charge: Mrs R. Blair
This course is for students who have an interest in the science of food, looking in-depth at the nutritional content of food, and how the human body processes it to make nutrients. We will ask questions about digestion, enzymes, the types of chemicals found in food, and preserving food. Classes will involve investigating the science of making honey, bees, bread, yogurt, cheeses, and chocolate. There will also be experimental tests on food types, tastings, and a unit on growing our own food and building a Hangi. It is expected students will collaborate in groups to solve problems and investigate issues.
Standards shown on courses are only an indication and not all may be offered at the time of study.
