In this English course we will explore the history of song lyrics and their ability to tell a story that reflects events and social change in history. You will apply this to understanding how music impacts lives from a cultural/societal perspective (any and not necessarily your own) e.g. the cotton-pickers’ influence on the blues of Elvis Presley, or songs that tell a political story, e.g. Parihaka by Tim Finn and Herbs.
