English as a Second Language
Course Description
This course is for students who are speakers of other languages who wish to improve their English. Students will learn the English language skills that will help them work independently in other classes and/or prepare them for entrance into tertiary study in New Zealand. Therefore, students will learn to understand ideas and information through the skills of listening, reading and viewing. They will also learn to create meaning through speaking, writing and presenting. By doing this, students will have the opportunity to gain at least 20 NCEA credits.
