English as a Second Language & English for Academic Purposes
Course Description
Students will learn the English language skills that will help them work independently in other classes and/or prepare them for entrance into tertiary study in New Zealand. Therefore, students will learn to understand ideas and information through the skills of listening, reading and viewing. They will also learn to create meaning through speaking, writing and presenting. By doing this they will have the opportunity to gain at least 20 NCEA credits at achieved, merit or excellence. Students can also be assessed on L4 Reading and Writing Standards in order to gain entrance to University (UE Literacy).
