Gateway Level 2,3

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Buchanan.

The Gateway programme is aimed at Year 12 but is also available to students in Year 13.  Students are selected (you will need to complete an application form and meet with Ms Holland or Mr Buchanan) into the programme based on their readiness and enthusiasm for work and their ability to work independently.  They must have a clear career path preferably in an area where Modern Apprenticeships are offered, but it is also available to students following university type vocations (with consideration).  Most credits available are at Level Two.

In class, students follow a programme of core units and also study theory that is appropriate to their work placement.  A work placement, of one day a week, for most of the year is set up where students gain credits assessed by the relevant industry assessors and allows students to experience authentic working conditions and requirements. The programme also supports further training or jobs after leaving school.

See Ms Holland or Mr Buchanan for more information.
