NCEA Level 3 Art Design - Creativity in Action
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Yates.
By following the design process and using a myriad of traditional and digital mark making techniques you will select and resolve a design brief with your creative flair and passion.
You will learn to use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to design publicity, event or business of your choice. You will explore various elements of design which include typography, illustration, image-making, product branding, website design, user experience design, and animation. By the end of the course you will be able to understand how to visually communicate your ideas to a wider audience. There is now an option to submit your work as a digital portfolio for the external standard for those interested in animation or time based projects.

Recommended Prior Learning
It is helpful to have studied Fine Art, Design or Photography at Level 2.

Course Contribution: $80 (this includes all art materials)

Pathway
This leads to further study in Visual Communication Design (Graphic Design, Advertising, Animation, and Illustration), Web Design, and UX Design. Art Design can be used in the Fine Arts, Architecture, Fashion, Photography, Art History and Moving Image fields in Tertiary Study as well.
