NCEA Level 2 English - Psycho Secrets

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs K. PETERS

In this English course, students will explore the motivations behind criminals, examining both fiction and nonfiction crime-based texts, and how these characters and/or individuals are portrayed to an audience in literature. Students will look into characters/individuals personalities and behaviour, and will also look at the consequences these characters/individuals have faced. Learning in this English course will be explored through both making meaning of a range of texts, as well as creating meaning to express new ideas in a range of forms (e.g. writing, oral presentations, static images etc).

Students who take Psycho Secrets will most likely be interested in criminology, and will be interested in crime-genre texts (books, films, short stories etc) to explore ideas about crime, motivations, and the impact of this on individuals and society.

Successful completion of this Level Two English course can lead on to any Level Three English course in 2022.

In this course a range of standards, internal and external, will be offered, and what is offered will be personalised where appropriate to meet the interests and needs of individual students.
