Chemistry affects our daily life and enables us to enjoy the standard of living we have. Chemistry explains how things work. It helps you to understand current events, including news about petroleum, product recalls, pollution, the environment and technological advances. Chemistry teaches useful skills, like how to be objective and how to reason and solve problems. You will look at the properties of substances around us and why they behave in certain ways. You will also learn qualitative and quantitative laboratory skills.

Course Contribution: $20 (Science Pad)
Stationery Requirements: 3 x 1B4, highlighter, Scientific calculator.
Recommended Prior Learning
11 Science ; gaining 12 credits in NCEA Level 1 Science including 4 credits from a science external.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.

Externally Assessed Credits: 13 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 10 credits.
