Course Description

Continue to develop your knowledge of dance and/or drama.  You will complete a minimum of four Achievement/Unit Standards during the year.

Course Overview

Term 1
AS91213 - 4 Credits - 2.1 Apply drama techniques in a scripted context.

Through the process of creating a character and learning a scripted play students will continue to explore the use of drama techniques and hone their performance skills further through their use in the scripted performance.

Term 2
AS91215 - 4 Credits - 2.3 Discuss a drama or theatre form or period with reference to a text.
AS91216 - 4 Credits - 2.4 Use complex performance skills associated with a drama or theatre form or period.

Through the process of learning a scripted play students will learn about the features and characteristics of Theatre Aotearoa to enable them to use and discuss the skills associated with that theatre form.

Term 3
AS91214 - 5 Credits - 2.2 Devise and perform a drama to realise an intention.

Through the exploration of the use of Drama conventions and techniques students will explore, reflect, select and sequence a devised (create) drama performance that reflects a story of a local landmark, person or place of significance.

Term 4
AS91215 - 4 Credits - 2.3 Discuss a drama or theatre form or period with reference to a text.

Students will continue to examine in more depth the scripted performance of an Theatre Aotearoa performance to enable them to further discuss this theatre form in the external examination.

Recommended Prior Learning

Successfully completed Year 11 PFA or have been approved to be placed in this class by the teacher in charge.
