NCEA Level 1 Health Studies
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr C. Brown.
Health Studies at Level One incorporates three key learning areas: Mental Health, Relationships and Sexuality, and Food and Nutrition. It is expected that through their learning all students will be able to apply these topics to themselves to strengthen their sense of identity and self-worth, as well as apply them to others and society.
Topics/issues covered will include: hauora/well-being, how togetherness and care can help whanau/communities, as well as injustices seen in society.
Pathway
This subject can lead to developing interests in the following career pathways: working within the health sector (nursing, etc.), care/support/rehabilitation of people, teaching children/young people/adults to learn about health, researching and evaluating health policies.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
