Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs B. Davies.
You will develop knowledge of dance elements and choreographic processes with your teacher. You will select four Achievement Standards to complete during the academic year.
Course Overview
Term 1
Developing knowledge of dance elements and dance performance skills.
Students will learn how to dance in an ensemble and learn a repertoire of 3 dances.
Term 2
Developing understanding of choreographic processes.
Students will complete a choreographic series of 3 dances (Group, Duo and Solo) in which they will use choreographic devices and processes to create dances.
Students will also begin to view and analyse a dance performance.
Term 3
Developing an understanding of a dance performance.
Students will study and analyse a dance performance and use their knowledge and understanding to complete the external examination.
Term 4
Preparation for external exam.
Recommended Prior Learning
Completed the Year 10 Performance Arts course. Alternatively your place in this class will need to be approved by the Teacher in Charge.
