NCEA Numeracy
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs C. Kyle.
NCEA Level 1 Mathematics or NCEA Numeracy is compulsory for all students.
We offer 3 different courses and will work with you to select the course that best meets your learning needs for 2024. The majority of students will take either Level 1 Mathematics with Statistics OR Level 1 Mathematics with Algebra as their course in 2024. Some students will be enrolled in NCEA Numeracy if they have not yet met the Numeracy co-requisite at the start of 2024. If you have any concerns about your class please contact the Head of Mathematics.
Numeracy: This course is designed to provide a pathway for students who still need to achieve the NCEA Numeracy co-requisite requirements for NCEA at Level 1, 2 or 3. Students will complete a variety of learning with a strong emphasis on basic number calculations, measurement, and statistical calculations and interpretations. This achievement standard is taught at a slightly slower pace and students are given lots of practical opportunities to understand their learning. This course is suited to students who have found Year 10 Numeracy and/or their Mathematics course(s) challenging. There is no progression from this course into Level 2 Mathematics. Students will choose this course with guidance from their Numeracy and Mathematics Course teachers and/or the Head of Mathematics.
Internal: 10 credits - assessed via a one hour digital test in June and September of each year.
