NCEA Level 3 English and Media
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs D. Northern.
The new Level Three English and Media Studies course has been designed to suit students who have a passion for film and media and would like the chance to study it at a higher level. This course is primarily based around visual texts and the study of the way media uses language to shape our perspective of the world around us. However, it also includes the chance to develop your writing skills.
This course includes two Level Three Media Studies assessments as well as some Level Three English assessments. In particular, the course includes writing a media text as well as creating your own podcast. You will also study critical theory to present two different readings of a filmed text. The mix of these assessments can be personalised where appropriate to meet the interests and needs of individual students.
Students may also choose to attend a Scholarship English class. This is currently an elective option.
